A popular Hawaiian recording artist turned a top-security dinner ofPacific Rim leaders hosted by President Barack Obama into a subtle protest with a song in support of the "Occupy" movement.

Makana, who goes by one name, was enlisted to play a luau, or Hawaiian feast, Saturday night for leaders assembled in Obama's birthplace Honolulu for an annual summit that is formulating plans for a Pacific free-trade pact.

But in the midst of the dinner on the resort strip Waikiki Beach, he pulled open his jacket to reveal a T-shirt that read "Occupy with Aloha," using the Hawaiian word whose various meanings include love and peace. He then sang a marathon version of his new song "We Are The Many."

With 5% of the world population, the US today holds 25% of the world's prisoners population.  Conditions of the criminal justice system in the US amount to the establishment of a gulag.

Judge Amanda Williams and Glynn County (Georgia) Courthouse
Los Angeles, November 13 - Notice of Formal Proceedings was filed on November 9, 2011, against Superior Court Judge Amanda F. Williams, Chief Judge of the Brunswick [Georgia] Judicial Circuit in the Georgia's Judicial Qualifications Commission. [1,2]

Most counts pertain to violations of the Human Rights of juveniles in drug courts.

... you issued a restrictive order that denied Dills the right to consult with her lawyer.
... you ordered Dills to be incarcerated indefinitely...
... However,on or about October 8, 2008, after Dills was taken into custody and transported to jail, you sua sponte modified her 28-day sentence to a period of confinement "indefinitely" in the Glynn County Jail and" until further order of the court...
[The juvenile eventually attempted suicide - jz]

...

...
The case is eerily reminiscent of:
  • Kids for Cash scandal in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, where judges were convicted on racketeering charges, for falsely imprisoning thousands of juveniles after receiving millions in bribes from juvenile prison owners.  Release of the victims is still in progress. [3]
  • Rampart scandal in Los Angeles County, California, where judges falsely convicted, falsely sentenced thousands of victims, many of them juveniles. The victims, the Rampart FIPs (Falsely Imprisoned Persons), by and large have never been freed. [4]
With 5% of the world population, the US today holds 25% of the world's prisoners population. [5]  With the establishment of a network of CMUs (Communications Management Units) over the past decade, and widespread practice of long-term solitary confinement, conditions of the criminal justice system in the US amount to the establishment of a gulag. [6,7]

Attempts to initiate investigation of the US criminal justice system have been recently blocked in the US Congress, after strong objections by judges. [8]

Lt. Commander Walter Fitzpatrick, III,   Monroe County Sheriff Bill Bivens

Lt Commander Walter Fitzpatrick, III, tried to expose government corruption in Monroe County, Tennessee.  According to ACLU he is now imprisoned under conditions that are “cruel and unusual”  and "what goes on there is more like gulags of centuries ago"... [1,2]

His plight is becoming the routine treatment of whistleblowers in the United States.  The case of Lt Commander Fitzpatrick is eerily reminiscent of the treatment of former US prosecutor Richard Fine in Los Angeles County, California. [3]
